Amy Ophus is a lesbian living in Helena, Montana. She gave public testimony tonight at the Helena City Commission public hearing about a nondiscrimination ordinance. She was reluctant and scared to speak because her landlord was present to publicly oppose the ordinance. After he gave his testimony, he came up to her in the hallway. Amy spoke to Truth in Progress about the encounter and how she was pleasantly surprised. An hour and a half later the ordinance passed 5-0.
